Need help in deciding what to go with.. here are the recommendations:

1983-90 2WD 4 cyl. models: DEXRON® II ATF

1991-96 2WD 4 cyl. models: multipurpose gear oil API GL-4 or GL-5; SAE 80W-90

All 2WD 6 cyl. models: multipurpose gear oil API GL-4 or GL-5; SAE 80W-90

All 4WD models: multipurpose gear oil API GL-4; SAE 75W-90 or 80W-90

Looks like a change was made after 90 to go to gear oil. What do you guys think?

Also if you recommend gear oil, I was wondering about GL-5 and brass corrosion issues. I did see in a recent post where Molakule said that was a thing of the past.

Oh,, and I know my best bet would be something from Schaffers or Spec. Formulations but this is a $200 car and I want to pick something up local.

ATF is much thinner than 80W-90. I suspect (and hopefully someone else can confirm) that there was a design change in '91 that accompanied the change in spec'd fluid. Thus, changing to a non-recommended fluid is probably not wise.

I'd say use any name-brand Dexron III and see how it feels/sounds.
