88 ramcharger TBI injector connectors?

Recently given this truck from a friend. Sat for 6 months during our 120*f summer and when he tried to start it, it ran awful. I discovered fuel puking from the top of the injectors and draining straight down on the throttle blades.

I soaked the seals in brake fluid, got the leak down to a weep, truck seems to run ok.

I'm baffled with how Dodge/Holley has the injectors sitting in the body and a plastic cup holds it in place. Chevy uses an aluminum housing, that's what I'm familiar with.

I can wiggle these cone/pigtails after they are tightened down with the center bolt. I can't find the connectors anywhere so I'm rather perplexed as to why and how.

Can anyone out there verify with me that the plastic cone things are there for emotional support of the injectors? They aren't like GMs TBI system of fully containing the injector?

Secondly, can anyone point me in a direction to finding the new connectors if I needed them?

Thank you everyone!!!

O-Rings have shrunk/hardened with age?
These injectors look about right?
318 or 360?

Mine are the standard ignition ones from O'Reilly Auto. They look similar. What I did notice is the lower o-rings on all the injectors claiming to be 318 are really thin like in your picture, mine are fat, similar to the top seal

This is a 318.

They were gushing fuel from under the caps but they certainly didn't feel hard and stiff. Injectors were replaced recently, ie, within the last 3 years

Looks like there's some variations in housing shape, or typical aftermarket parts mismatch
There's an eBay listing for a repair kit, could try that?

I also respectfully demand pictures of said Ramcharger 🤩
@dishdude needs his late century Mopar fix 🥲

I feel like a picture of said Ramcharger is mandatory…
I AGREE. I been lusting over a bunch of Ramchargers in absolute mint condition For Sale on an auction web site. Sinply amazing the near new car look some of those owners have managed to keep those things in. Most are decently priced YET there is always someone who will make folks wonder if they are mentally ill, or forgot to take their medications with the prices they list along with "Or....best offer!" LOL

Thread made me reminisce about my late teen years. Girl I dated my senior year (91) in high school, her Dad was a prominent Veterinarian and had a brand new 1988 Dodge Ramcharger 4WD. It was cranberry and had the 5.2L/318c.i.. He used to go on vacation often and we would take it out turfing in snow and just plain having fun. Now he drives the top of the line Infinity SUV and is happily retired.

Sorry. The 318 has smaller ports and valves which make more low end torque. The 360 needs to rev more with its bigger ports and bigger valves.
I've never owned a Dodge in my life so I take nothing to heart.

I drove it around the street yesterday and even with bad gas it's still pretty peppy.

This is going to be my off-road truck. Sits on 31" tires, looks like it's got a small lift

I wanted to update everybody on my adventure with this Ramcharger. It's not an 88 it's actually a 90. With that said, the fuel injector seals were leaking because the 1995 Chrysler New Yorker fuel pump that got put in the aftermarket 36 gallon tank was pushing 45 PSI to the throttle body. Long drastic story short, the tbi return line became blocked under the truck and the fuel pressure had nowhere to go. The gas flooded the motor a couple times when my friend owned it but he didn't know what or why. I've been running a insane amount of fuel additive through the fuel system and it seems like the piston rings and everything is starting to free itself up pretty well. It took me about 16 hours to figure out and repair where the block line was/ how it got blocked. Truck seems to be running better and better.

Good Luck... sounds like you got some of it working out. Great job troubleshooting an aggravating issue to pin point with fuel systems. Sometimes if people would just STOP and back off a bit they can figure out issues without PAYING someone to do it for them. 👍
