80w90 Nissan specification

Does anyone know why Nissan would specify 80w90 conventional (non synthetic) in a r180 front diff?

I was going to go ahead and use 75w90 in the front diff but realized they specify 80 conventional. I’d assume it will be fine and have read of many that have used the 75 syn in the r180 with no issue.

edit: same for the transfer case. Nissan specifies matic D instead of the matic S/J used in the automatic transmission.

Nissan synthetic is 75w so either should work … if only running 30k-40k the conventional might be cheaper …

I’ll probably just go with 80w90 as it’s dirt cheap and the front diff gets used 1/100 of the time the rear does. I was just more curious why Nissan would specify conventional (non synthetic).

I have 80w140 Valvoline conventional in my 2020 Rubicon F/R … paid a whopping $36 for 9 quarts !
