$8000 bottle of booze!

There are expensive houses in the city but they are on the complete opposite side of town. They are on smaller lots than us .I don't think those folks would drive over here just to buy booze at a gas station .

The house nearest the blue dot is me
I like the open space! $8,000.00 is lots of hookers and Cocaine. At leat 8 awesome hookers and good Cocaine.

Buying an $8,000 bottle of anything is for the bragging rights. You know, to pass around at a class reunion or something like that. No half ways sensible person would buy it for the drinking quality. It might be as much as 1% better than the $100/bottle stuff - or not.

Some people might buy it on the greater fool investment plan. You might remember how that works - you plan to sell it later to a greater fool. Sort of like buying a digital image.

One of my neighbours used to buy a number of bottles of Johnny Walker Blue (in the range of $350 - $450 a bottle locally) as Xmas gifts for valued suppliers and customers. Not such great Scotch you say. No worries, you buy it to demonstrate how much you think of the supplier and the customer (and, dare we say it, to show off a bit).

What’s amazing is the advertising practice of odd pricing or sometimes called charm pricing. It’s been around for 100 years. A bottle of bourbon for $8000.00!? Outrageous! That same bottle for $7999.99, lemme take a look at that!
