$8/gallon full-strength TEXACO (low silicate)

I'd search if it worked.

Needed a coolant refill for MiL's 95 A6 that takes G-11. The car had G-05 in it for a while, but top-offs with Prestone "All Makes" and water left it weak concentration and mixed types. I wanted PEAK All Makes but it comes only pre-diluted and I needed to boost/flush. Anyway, TEXACO says "low silicate" and that only can mean one thing, a G-05 clone...right? The label did not say anything about mixing compatability with others, but OAT and HOATs mix ok. So, that's what is in the car after reverse flushing out some sealant. MiL is going on a road trip. Hygrometer reads -25f concentration. Anyone have insight/info on this product? It might be my new coolant of choice.

I don't believe so unless it also indicates the presence of OAT - which I'm skeptical about. What you describe sounds more like a reduced silicate version of traditional "green" antifreeze/coolant which would also contain phosphates. If you're after a G-05 without automaker designer-brand exclusivity, Zerex G-05 or the Texaco in a gold jug for Mopar and Ford products (where available). Autozone carries the Zerex again for $9.99/gallon (concentrate). The other option if you're not married to the notion of a G-05 is a Prestone (or the Prestone supplied SuperTech) dexclone - but only if you're certain your cooling system is leak free. DEX-COOL and its unlicensed clones do not long tolerate the presence of air in the system. In a properly sealed system though, DEX-COOL's performance is beyond reproach. (I'm 26+ months into a fill with the SuperTech All Makes in my '03 Sonata aluminum V6.) I also advocate distilled or de-ionized water only for flushing and dilution. End of rant.

I have the older A6 that takes G-11, a silicated OATless product. Still, the Texaco seems ideal. I don't want strait OAT in a older system, bad idea.

For 10.00/gallon, or even 12 from PEP Boys, I can't see not running the G05, that way you KNOW. It's a once every two or three years-proposition, why mess with it?

I use G-05 in apps that took silicated, but will not use strait OAT. I needed something asap and it might leak out anyway. I think this might be a good product, suspected someone knew or would look up more info. When MiL gets back from her trip, I'll know where to go from then.

Use what ya' want and quit obsessing over it. Despite your manic obsession with buffered 2-EH's (DEX-COOL) alleged inadequacies, there are NO bad antifreeze formulations out there - merely different/conflicting ideas concerning what constitutes a good one. If it were otherwise it wouldn't be a horserace, now, would it? If you want/need more information than what's already been offered, you're perfectly capable of Google-ing it yourself. HOATS brand themselves as such, I'm pretty sure G-05 does. If it doesn't say, maybe it is or isn't. Why bother. Buy the G-05. This is wunnerful stuff..

It's not a problem. As long as the system is clean, the solution is correct (50/50), and the system has no abnormal leaks, then you shouldn't have a problem. It's just important that the level is maintained.

Well, I just picked up two gallons of Prestone All Makes All Models for a little over $6.00/gal after the mail-in VISA offer. So why not save my $6? per gallon for some gas...or fried chicken?

The Texaco low-silicate is not a G05 or OAT product AFAIK. This is a traditional formula non -EL type coolant used in primarily diesel engines (FORD) where low-silicate formulas are required.
