Mobil 1!! Like they said, it has the additive and runs very well.
How about Schaeffer's #268 or #740? Salesrep would be better suited to tell you if they're the right product for your app. They're slightly higher viscosity on the low-temp end (more like an 80W140), but DANG they're tough lubes. They'll blow M1 or even Amsoil into the weeds for 'heavy lifting,' IMO. If you just drive the pickup around like a car (like most people do), then that's not such a big deal.

Well I'm either running the Motorcraft, Mobil 1 or Valvoline Syn. The valvoline actually says it meets the Ford spec, and no additive is required for my ford LSD spec. One of them 3. Down to price and availability. They all meet GL-5, are all synthetic 75-140. The only difference is the Mobil 1 and valvoline already have the friction modifier in the lube. with Motorcraft you have to add it separately. That's the biggest difference I see. Along with price.

yup, 10-4 I know.... Either way it meets SM/CJ-4. and it's very cheap and available everywhere. As of right now Mobil 1 75/140 is the ticket until I can shop around and see what other places have for what price.
Shoot.. you could get Amsoil SVG for about the same price, maybe less than the dealer's price! No brainer...even if you did have to mail order...
I've always had great luck with Valvoline Gear lubes. Never broke a MT or Diff. and I beat the [censored] out of them. I have broken one diff with Mobil 1 75-90. Stripped the teeth off the front diff on my 94 4runner with 35" M/T's on a hill climb. Looking back... I should have opted for 75/140. Not sayin M1 had anything to do with the breakage.. just my history. I'm going to try and find the Valvoline locally for a good price.

That price for sythetic 75W-140 gear oil is high. I have a 2002 V6 Ford Explorer with a limited slip rear diff that also calls for 75W-140 with the limited slip additive.
I used Amsoil synthetic Severe Gear 75W-140 oil and put in 4 oz of the differential friction modifier as my diff would chatter without it.
The Amsoil has been fine in the rear diff so far and my diff is quite and smooth.

Man, the prices you guys pay for gear oil blows me away. I can get RoyalPurple MaxGear for $9-$11 a bottle depending on what warehouse my speed shop gets it at that day. The RP MaxGear 75W-140 is an excellent product. I ran it in my 04 Dodge Ram and will run it in my new 08 Ram.
Also, screw the Amsoil white papers. That is not a dis on Amsoil as they make very good products but rather I am sick to death of that test report being used as the holy bible of gear oils now. Enough already. Wow. base your opinion on your own use or results from 100% independant sources not from the competitors claims.

I think the Royal Purple 75w-140 is 12.99/quart at most parts stores, if you don't have a connection. It's good stuff. Mobil 1 would be my second choice and Amsoil would be my third.

Only paid $4.77 a quart! hee hee! ;-)
