yep gl-6 is old and obsolete off road severe duty usage.

the current GL-5 covers it fine.

some products are also GL-5+ .. I'm assuming that means it exceeds gl-5 for protection

It never even came to be...just an idea. That's why I'm wondering what Richmond claims to have on their hands. Do you think it might actually be better for high offset gears than your garden variety GL5?

Probably the same 'claims' that Torco has for their declared GL-6 rating of their gear oils.

Many years ago, I saw this stuff for sale at a bargain price, However, I did not buy it because I didn't know if a GL-6 oil could replace a GL-5 oil.

So instead, I paid full price for Valvoline Synpower 75w140.
