Visits to the local European indy rarely disappoint, however today was exceptional. One of my favorite Ferrari's and it isn't even a Ferrari ;)

Beautiful patined example. I like most vehicles, but I feel only a few are truly pretty and this is one.

The fuel door on the driver side even. I wonder when European cars started putting them on the passenger side. just thinking out loud. Neat car.

Cool. It's interesting that until barely 20ish years ago you could pick one (or two) of these up for next to nothing. Ferrari collectors and aficionados wanted nothing to do with them as they didn't have a Ferrari badge.

Check out the story of the guy that found a Ferrari Dino buried in his backyard. From what I remember he was told of a rumor that a previous inhabitant of his house owed the IRS and buried his Ferrari so they wouldn't seize it. Apparently there was a Ferrari buried in his backyard.

My ex girlfriend’s father had a 1974 Dino 246GT that he bought back in the 80s but sold it long before it reached the big price tag that they fetch these days.

Flat out gorgeous. There used to be one running around here, up the hill where the rich people live.
That car makes me drool...

So, what is it if not a Ferrari?
Somehow missed this comment....my apologies. It is a Dino, a marque used by Ferrari for its lower market (tough to say 'lower' about almost any Ferrari) from the 60's through the late 70's. The brand honored Dino the son of Enzo who died young. For years many Dino's were rebadged as Ferraris by their owners but happily that custom seems to have passed.

Ferrari had proclaimed that a Ferrari road car must have twelve cylinders, so this V-6, its (even prettier) 206 predecessor and the later (rather clunky looking) V-8 308 GT4 2+2 were badged as Dinos.
The V-8 308 was evolved into the first Ferrari with a mere V-8, the 308 GTB/GTS, the gorgeous Magnum PI car.
