What oil do you use in your CX-5? Wife has a new GT with about 500 miles. I may use the Mazda moly oil, or must M1 AFE when the time comes.

PP in 0w20 and OEM or Ultra or WIX.

An orange can can do 7500 miles in a known clean engine easily. I'm running almost triple that on both the charger and the Sierra however both are known clean.
If the engine has deposits I'd clean them first in a manner you are comfortable with whatever it is. Once it's clean extended filter intervals are no sweat
