6sp tranny and diff oil for 2004 350z

after reading and reading for the last while, I think I've decided to use redline gl4 mt90 & mtl 50/50 mix in my transmission and royal purple gl4, gl5 75w90 in my lsd diff. anyone here have a 350z that have this combo? or can anyone comment on these lubes good or bad. this car is driven with spirit as my daily driver.

I have m1 10w30 hm in the engine right now - seems kind of sluggish(slow revs? but this car is new to me), hope it improves with a transmission/diff change.

I think the recommended oil for that engine is 5w30 as it shares the same engine with my G35. Put a synthetic in it and the engine will love it. In my rear diff. I used Amsoil Synthetic Severe Duty fluid. In my other Nissan that required a GL-4 transmission fluid, I've used Specialty Formulations as they sell the correct weight and it made shifts nicer than the original Nissan fluid that was in there.

I agree if it calls for 5-30 then you should use that, I wouldn't worry its getting hot soon, and that oil will shear to 10w-20 at maybe 3k then its going to rev like nobody's business, they should sell pre sheard M1.

Sluggish? Get a tuneup and try a bottle or 2 of quality FI cleaners. Use premium fuel for best performance. Leave battery disconnected overnight.

M1 10w30 is thick but VQ's won't mind it. Since your north, 5w or 0w--30's should be considered.

RP gear oil is also thick for its weight. Amsoil, Redline, and Mobil1 90wts are thinner.

Don't forget a synth ATF for the PSF.

Since you can use either a 90wt or 85wt in the manual, that 50:50 blend is perfect.

it seems sluggish compared to my old revy 4 banger (swift GT), maybe just have to get used to it. Ive been driving the 350z for about a month

Ive finished changing the 6 speed transmission/diff fluids, doesnt really feel any different, maybe needs to work in a bit.

One think I have noticed is the M1hm oil seems to have a cleaning affect, seemed to have cleaned up the areas I can see inside the oil cap hole - before was dark varnish, now its clean and bright alum.

10W30 is also spec'd in the manual for warmer climates - I drive a winter beater (sprint turbo) so this car wont see any freezing temps - plus where I live temps usually doesnt get colder than -5c (23F)in the middle of winter

PSF in resevoir was replaced 2 weeks ago with M1 ATF.
brake and clutch fluid flush will be next then coolant change another day

quick update after driving a couple days, transmission is smoother and not as notchy going into gears, before it was like ie. 1st into 2nd would be almost 2 movements 1 to pull out of 1st and down into 2nd then sort of slows the throw until it fully engages into 2nd, now it just goes into 2nd in one motion. hope it makes sense

I have an '06 Frontier with the same transmission and the increased displacement VQ 40. I have RL MTL/MT-90 blended 50/50 and it shifts better than the OEM fluid, but still bites in the cold. I don't think this transmission shift well with cold fluid.

I put RL 75w140 in the rear axle. Seems to be fine, but I do have some gear whine (normal amount) in both the transmission and diff, but had that since brand new. As for engine oil I'm running Syntec 5w30 but will be moving to Pennzoil Platinum soon.
