Okay I have 6qts of Castrol Synthetic 10w30, got it on sale was going to use it in the truck but decided to go with something heavier. I mixed one quart with regular Castrol 10w30 in one car. Is it safe to mix it with Havoline or Pennzoil? I was planning on doing a couple treatments of the oils above and go with Mobil 1 Extended Performance in all my cars eventually. I also have about 4 lawnmowers that I could use it in. Help!! Thanks, Eric

What truck, miles, engine? Can the truck use 10w30 or did you determine it needs thicker oil, and if so, what is the basis for going to thicker oil?

You can mix oils, but it would be nice to use the same brand. Can you take three quarts back and exchange them for some 10w40 to mix in with it?

Possibly you have another vehicle that could use the 30 weight?

10W-30 will work great in most engines under most conditions. Why not use it in a friend's car or a family member's car that's rarely taken care of? Have them make you dinner or buy a few rounds at your fave tavern for the return favor.

The mowers will take about 3 of the quarts if you want to use the oil for them.

If you want to get, um..... "creative" with the oil, I've got two words for ya:

Seriously, this is a very good motor oil. It should work fine in any friend's vehicle that specs. 5-20, 5-30, or 10-30.

Your mowers might be happier with a cheap straight 30wt. HD with good additive pak.

Just use it for goodness sake. I wonder why you are all excited about switching to Mobil 1 Extended Performance when there is almost no field experience with it yet.

For moderate OCIs Syntec 10w30 will do just fine in the vast majority of cars and light trucks. If you end up with a stragler quart or two you could mix it with any modern conventional oil without fear.

Was going in a 2000 F150 5.4L drinks synthetic as much as it does gas though. I think i'll give to my dad for his festiva, needs a good cleaning, and the lawnmowers for the last 2. I run mostly 5w30 in everything, and reasoning for going with EP is lazyness. I don't have time to change oil every 2 months. Thanks for all suggestions.

BTB,

If I didn't know you to be a very kind human being I would think you were being sarcastic.

I was actually serious. I am currently scheduled to change my oil, and Syntec is my fav, however, I have gone insane, and I'm gonna try Mobil 1 Extended Performance. Needless to say,
