66 GTO Goat

A new Camry V/6 has the same 0-60 acceleration time as a 1970 Hemi Cuda, 5.7 seconds, it does the 1/4 mile in 14.2 seconds while the Hemi Cuda did it in 14 seconds. Pretty respectable given that the Hemi Cuda was a beast.
One thing that stands out about the old school muscle cars is that they weren't as fast as we always thought they were. They were just brutal.

True, but I'll bet that Cuda was on narrow bias ply tires. On equal tires, I'm guessing the Cuda should see high to mid 13's.

The 64 thru 67 GTO came on 7:75x14 sissy bias ply rubber. The power band was all over by 4500 rpm. Transmissions were horrible in comparison to today.

Auto technology has come a loooong way since those days. Points and plugs tune up was an annual thing. Carbs were fuel dumpers.
