For older 60's cars with all cast iron engines and copper radiators what is the best coolant to use? I have tried Evans but it does not work well. I would prefer a propylene glycoi based coolant because of the disposal issues in my area.

For older cars with cast iron blocks, aluminum heads, and copper radiators what is the best to use?

I use Be Cool in my GTO. No issues. I wanted a PG formula as well. I use a standard pressure (original) cap with this coolant.

You want the green atifreeze. It is silicated ethylene glycol. Look for zerex green, peak original green, or a generic from the farm store.

I only know of 2 PG coolants. Amsoil and Sierra. I do not know if they have Silicates or not. Kestas is 100% correct about the need for Silicates. The new Long life coolants tend to eat through the solder. I cant speak for G-O5 as its a LL with Silicates.

Original Green formula is what you want to use. It was formulated to work well with copper and soldered radiators, iron engines etc. The silicates in it will protect the aluminum heads and elastomers. You will want to change the coolant about every two years though. G05 would probably work good too but it's pretty certain the green does. I don't see any reason to use anything else.
