Just bought a 2005 dodge grand caravan 3.3 v6 80000 miles, the owners manual say use 5w30 the fill cap on engine says 5w20, what do I do?

Call Corporate (not the dealership) if you're truly concerned. Otherwise, 5w-30 is probably the safer option.

Yeah, I'd go with what the owner's manual says until you get clarification. Who knows if the oil fill cap got replaced with one that has the wrong weight on it.

The 04's and 05's come in all the time with either the 5w20 cap or the standard chrysler cap. Either 520 or 530 will work fine. I use 530 in the GF's mother's 05 Caravan 3.3. It has 100k on it now. If it was mine, in that motor I would prefer 5w30.

You're in north carolina... not too cold there. I'd go with 5W-30 and forget it

With your mileage run 5w30 (high mileage, has seal conditions, frequently moly and runs a bit thicker in the grade range typically)

5w30

My buddy has a 09 Grand Cherokee and he uses 5w30, and decided all on his own.. no prodding from me needed. He is convinced the engine "sounds" much smoother on the 30 weight. I can't argue with that as I put 30 weights in my corolla.
