I see lots of talk about shorter OCIs on turbocharged engines, particularly the 3.5L Ecoboost.
This is a 2020 expedition with a Gen 2 3.5 EcoBoost. The oil life meter was at 13% and this was the first fill of the Castrol Edge 5w30 in the gold bottle (20k mile formula).
The vehicle gets lots of highway miles cruising at 75-80 mph and sees quite a bit of towing. This OCI represents just over 8,500 miles, with around 2,000 of that with a trailer of some sort behind (pop-up camper, loaded car trailers, and a Travel Trailer).
I'm happy with this. The oil is holding up well and could have easily gone longer.
I am going to keep changing the oil around 10% on the IOLM and I'm going to keep doing analysis on every change to show proof of maintenance for my extended warranty.
Iron and aluminum look great to me. Silicon is higher than I'd like, but I live on gravel. Air filter is very clean looking, but maybe I need a better one to keep the dirt out, IDK. Something to think about anyway. TBN and viscosity look great for the miles, IMO.
any thoughts and comments are welcome
