For some reason, my 2007 6.0 owner's manual states the use of 15w40 and 10w30 for use in hot/mild climates. they spec the 5w-40 for use in like sub zero temps only. I checked a owners manual for a 2008 F250... (they still covered the 6.0). the 6.4 Oil chart differed from the 6.0's. the 2008 6.0 oil chart looks like mine. the 6.4L chart was different. they recomended 5w-40 in cold/hot climates. and also recomended 15-40 in warm climate.
So why the heck is 5w-40 ok for the 6.4 in like -30F to 100+F. but only good in the 6.0 below 10F? Still can't believe they recomend 10w30 over 5w-40 for the 6.0.... ? Looking for a 5w-40 that is CJ-4/SM compliant. No botique oils. so far I've only found the new Motorcraft 5-40 and Mobil 1 Delvac to fit the bill. the rotella and others are SL/CH4 plus or whatever.
