Just got back my first UOA on my new Legacy. This is the new for 2005 2.5L turbocharged version. Oil is Chevron Supreme 5w-30 with 1.5oz/qt. Valvoline Synpower Oil Treatment added. I dumped the factory fill at 1000 miles. Changed to the above mentioned mix, ran for about 1700 miles and then the current OCI of 1953 miles. The same mix is in there now and I plan on doing one more change with the same till I hit 10K miles and switch to GC. Filter has been a Supertech. Will switch to the OEM filter once on GC and running longer drains.

Sheared back from 10.8 cst to 9.6 cSt, but that's normal for this oil. Too bad the Valvoline Synpower Oil Treatment can't counteract that. Hmmm...maybe it did somewhat? Nice report though. I'd go for a quality syn with that turbo engine too.

bigpaulo: Of course it's a manual! You can't have a true sports sedan with an automatic

While I'm happy with the wear numbers, the thinning does concern me to some degree. Since I'm running short drains it's not too big a deal, but I would really rather go to a longer drain interval, say around 5k miles. That makes GC a good candidate, as well as the fact that I have 30+ qts of the stuff in the garage

The moly and boron number seem a touch low, but regardless, the Valvoline add. brings some good stuff to the party. Anyone think that it should stay even after the switch to GC?

I think you should stick with the Valvoline Syn. treatment. By adding only 1.5 oz. per quart, that's a pretty cheap additive ($2 per treatment) that I think gives any oil you use a bit more protection.
