Just completed my 5th drain and fill on the mk6 jetta, all around 2 thousand miles apart but could be closer, according to carfax maintenance log I use.

I used my leftover universal Castrol transmax atf, and it seems to work just fine. The fluid was starting to get a red tint to it by the 4th drain and fill. Lets see how well it is after the 5th one.

Why not a full flush? is this method using less or more atf to do a full exchange?

I want to do a full flush, but with these new car payments im too poor for a big hex set along with the timing belt kit I bought along with the transmission cooler for the odyssey that I need to install some day. A flush uses less transmission fluid though.

I did three drain and fills on my 17 accord using Amsoil cvt fluid at 32K miles. Did the first drain and fill, drove it around 15 miles, pulled back in driveway, did second d/f, drove another 15 miles, pulled back in driveway, did third d/f.

Drove 29,350 miles, did a single drain and fill, and will continue doing that every 30K miles from here on out. UOA with TAN is posted on here.

Did the same thing with wife’s 2015 Altima. 3X drain and fill with short drive in between with Castrol transmax cvt fluid at 50K miles. Did a single d/f at 75K miles, and will be every 25-30K miles from here on out.

What is the reasoning for going 2,000 miles or around there between drain and fills? I thought the purpose was to get the old and new fluids (different brands) out asap as to not have “compatibility issues?”

Time constraint and forgetting. I didn't really have issues.

And by the way for those wanting to know exactly how many quarts to put in Aisin 09G without having to do the temperature check, it is 2.5 to 2.7 quarts.

I put in 2.9 and its all good.
