55 No-Post Chevy

Your link doesn't work for me. The car I like along with the engine but the lifted suspension just doesn't fit the car at all. Love lifted & lowered vehicles whole hearted but this lifted set up doesn't look good. No hood on it doesn't appeal either. If this is some sort of offroad drag race car, most of the time, then I understand it may need this combination & I'd agree fine but not for street cruiser appeal. Now the black two door you posted...
This was the way Hot Rodders built quarter mile track cars in the late 50's and earlier 60's. Not a dirt track or street car; it is a race car.

You can Google American Graffiti Tribute which is held in Petaluma evey May. Parts of the movie were filmed "on the Boulevard" which is downtown on Petaluma Boulevard. We have a home there, it's a nice refuge from the Silicon Valley grinder.

I just don't get the 58. 56 and 55 are my favorites, in that order.
For me it was the uniqueness of the 58, and they only ran that style for one year. Value and popularity hands down goes to 55-57. Honestly I'd take anyone of them.

Here's a '55 Gasser I helped a buddy build. That's my friend in the drivers seat. I have hair... 😀

I also think the pictured car looks ugly. I don’t appreciate how modified the car looks.

The car looks like an unfinished front end, or is missing parts. And the lift also looks awful.

To me, classic cars with excessive modern aesthetics are conflicting, which ruin the classic appeal, especially with modern rims. Modern rims look terrible on classic cars imo. Rims on this one are fine, but just ranting.

I like how today’s custom builders toss the frame and build one from stiff box tubing - get a modern suspension under it - yet lower the CG for handling

They were built that way for function over form. It was all to help the car accelerate harder. Light front-end, and a higher cg to transfer the weight onto the rear tires for better traction, etc.

This car is a lot of fun to drive. High horsepower small block (less weight than a big-block and blower set-up), Hilborn fuel injection, M22 4-speed, modded rear fenders. It's pretty loud even with the exhaust routed through the mufflers. Uncapped of course was much louder, and not advisable for the street.

The Gassers were really before my time, but they're still fun to drive on the street and track to this day.

Well, with the headers coming out of the front fender wells I can understand why they are lifted. LOL Anyways, about the weight transfer I suppose I much prefer the lower front/higher rear stance much better than this form. If it was an era before my time I completely understand & I'm sure it was more exceptable.
