50/50 pre mix antifreeze.

I`ll be draining and refilling my car`s radiator soon. I saw in one of the auto parts store`s ads that they are selling various brands of pre mixed 50/50 antifreeze/water. That`s the first time I`ve ever seen it sold like that. Is it as good as just buying straight anti freeze and mixing it yourself?

Also,what the absolute best brand/type for my car (car is in my sig.)

The last time I looked at the 50/50 it was only a dollar cheaper than the regular stuff. Buy the regular and a gallon of distilled water and you have two gallons of 50/50 for almost half the price.

It saves you from mixing. Call the Nissan dealer and ask what coolant you should run.

Are you going to flush with water? If so, then you will have a certain amount of water retained in the cooling system. When you add the 50/50 mix, you'll essentially have less than the 50/50 ratio.

This is pretty much how it was explained to me when I had my system recently flushed (same time as a timing belt change) and inquired why I didn't have any coolant left. They charged me for 2 gallons when it should have been approx. 1.5 gallons. They explained that they like to start with a higher concentration after the flush.

If you do a drain and fill, you have the convenience of not needing to mix. Is the convenience of not mixing with double the cost? Only you can answer that.

our system does not allow coolant to be billed out in anything but a gallon. same with oil, its all quarts unless it the 5 quart jugs of motorcraft diesel synthetic.

Not going to flush,just drain the radiator and refill. Probably start out with a gallon of anti freeze,gallon of distilled water,and a bottle of Purple Ice. Car has 59k on it. Coolant looks to be in brand new condition,so I just want to maintain it and keep it fresh.
