Need more info, like year.
I thought the go to was 0w-40?

0W40 can handle lower temps than -20F. A great choice for that engine imo.0-40 and sleep well at night. unless it goes well below -20f no worries.
That is my way of thinking as well.Seems like you can run 0W-40 in about anything.
This would be my choice as well. Can't go wrong.my son is running Mobil 1 5w30 in his 2023 5.7L Hemi.
Just my $0.02
“Junk” you say. lolMine says 5w-20 on the fill cap. I will not use that junk so I was using 0w-30. Now I just go the easy way and use 5w-30.
Same, I went from 0w-20 to 5w-40 in my 2021 by the 14k mark. That junk made the engine burn oil and loud at hot idle. Doesn't burn a drop and it's dead silent to where I only hear the gdi pump now. Also hated how it'd splash like actual water when draining the sump making a mess of things.Mine says 5w-20 on the fill cap. I will not use that junk so I was using 0w-30. Because you live in hot Texas the reason you skipped over trying the 5w30 first?Same, I went from 0w-20 to 5w-40 in my 2021 by the 14k mark. That junk made the engine burn oil and loud at hot idle.
