5-30 or 0-30???

I own a 2005 toyota tacoma, 2.7 4 banger. It calls for 5-30 but I was told that in recent years Toyota changed requirements to 0-30 for that engine....should I use 0-30 or is 5-30 so similar that it doesn't really matter?

I have found that these 0W-XX oils to be thin to begin with at any temperature compared to 5W-XX. Which will help you get to operating temperature faster. 0w30 only comes in synthetic.

there is a slight difference, but I doubt your motor would know the difference in everyday operations. Going to the Arctic soon and doing multiple, multiple cold starts? Maybe the 0W then

I'd like to see this "requirement" in writing. Now they may have clarified/qualified the spec to include "0w" ..like they did with 0w-20 where only 5w-20 was approved in some "to the letter of the OEM specification" type thing.
