4stroke Castor oil usage?

I've long known and used castor based oils in my 2-stroke race engines. Gotta love the castor, but it can be dirty.

Now for the 4stroke castor based oils. I've found a couple examples of castor based oils for use in the crankcase of 4stroke race engines; Silkolene CASTORENE R40S & R50S and Blendzall #465 4-cycle Racing Castor 45W. I am unfamiliar with the use of castor based oils in 4stroke engine crankcases. Any information you could share would be great.

BTW, I am interested in this for my '07 Yamaha Raptor 700R that I XC race; currently using Red Line Racing 40wt. I'm not unhappy with the RL; I just have the wandering eye for oil that is so common here on BITOG.

What is it that you do not like about the Red Line racing oil? Your racing castors in 4-stroke engines can get really dirty also.

I have a lot of friends who race motorcycles that use Red Line racing oil and love it.

Johnny you misunderstand, I am happy with the RL. Just looking around, learning where required, and generally enjoying the ride.

Nasty dirty is one of the answers to one of my questions.

ccdhowell, you are absolutely correct, I totally misread your first post. Must have been one of those senior moments I keep hearing about. I personally do not think the castor based products are any better than the Red Line "Racing" oils.

Yeah, I'm just recently switching from 2strokes to 4strokes and castor based oils have treated me well in the smokers so I wondered about it in my big 700 thumper. Probably made the correct oil choice in the first place with the RL Racing, but I'm not very loyal when it comes to oil.
