I hit 44.7 mpg on my 40 mile trip home from work today. 75 mph avg speed. BP premium. Up to 10% ethanol.

Wilmington Delaware over the Delaware Memorial Bridge up 295.

Oh, M1 EP 5w30 too. Car calls for a 0w20.

I though that this 44 MPG average is accumulated of several thousands miles, including highway and city. That will be very impressive.

Yeah you need to hand calculate the mpg by filling it up after a long distance and not rely on the computer.

My grandmother's Chevy Trailblazer shows almost 30 mpg average when driving on the highway.

Also the 2004 BMW 325i I was driving a few weeks back showed over 40 mpg average for 25 miles of highway driving, it's a 6 cylinder, the computer was just trying to be funny.

Though I tend to get higher MPGs on the trip back from DC or Wilmington than the trip there, I do think that stretch is slightly uphill overall. a quick search indicates that Carney's point is 3 ft above sea level while Cherry Hill is 82 and Trenton is 75 as a frame of end to end on 295...

I've manually calculated 41mpg in the Scirocco on two separate occasions, just to prove to myself that it was achievable. It is rarely achieved though, because weber carbs and straight pipes sound so good

I can hit that all Highway in my Fit, but it is much less of an engine and less of a car.

DI seems to be living up to the hype!

I bet if you add a bit more air into the tires and go a bit slower you can hit 50mpg....

I typically get about the same on my trips from Baltimore to Ocean City in the Elantra in Eco mode. This has been summer only.

Good to know others have seen similar results. I'm impressed. Even more impressed that I achieved that AVG trip MPG at 75-78 mph. I consistently get anywhere from 38-43 mpg when driving 75-78 mph on my 40 mile highway commute to work.

Oddly enough, it's the highest mpg I've seen and I'm using a 5w30. I'm going to switch back to EP 0w20 for the winter and see what results I can get with that. Probably won't notice a difference.

LOL.

There is a way to reprogram the computer so that it is less optimistic in its readouts.

BTW, what did you end up selling it for?

I would guess that winter gas will more than offset the difference.
