ok just got an email from Michelin about the weight of the Tiger Paw. It is 20.07 where the Kumho was 18.6.

Good thread & advice here. My previous experience with getting new tires usually involved a drop in gas mileage, a little extra PSI often helped- but the real improvements came from putting the miles on 'em. The thicker the tread, the more the "squirm", if all else is equal. Plus the extra weight out there where it can have the maximum effect. I always got bigger drops in short hop mileage than highway, especially after a few thousand miles.
And FWIW: very soon I may be facing an extreme example of this- will post back in a week or two on any findings. Short version of setup- vehicle that should get ~20 mpg had bigger tires & wheels added by factory; now has even bigger tires on it, virtually new, with thick tread. Total Load capacity of the current tires is well over double the vehicle weight.

Ok, I traded the Tiger Paws in on some KR 22 which weigh 18.9. The old 732s that I had on there that got 40-41mpg weighed 18.6.
While the tiger paws weighed a tad over 20.
So I haven't gotten a good reading yet, but I got almost 39 with the new 22s, but mpg with the air on seems to have dropped from 31 to 30mpg.
Maybe I'm being too picky but I really enjoyed getting 40+. It just makes my 300 mile trip all the better.
