Used the left over kit on my 05 infiniti, headlight is far from clear. Maybe a new kit will makes thing better but right now it doesn't look very good at all.

The headlight is now hazy and cloudy looking. I think i need to get a finer grade of sand paper. One past that pizeo P3000 disc, or maybe better/stronger polish.

The abrasive material will dull so maybe that is what has happened.

Does the kit contain 3M "lens protector"? I just got some of that by itself and will try that on a warm day.

usually this happens for one of two reasons. first you did not work the product long enough to where it broke down all the way. the second reason would be use a less aggressive polish to bring back the clarity after compounding.

I've used toothpaste, a terrycloth towel, and some elbow grease and that works amazingly well.

It depends upon the severity of the haze and maybe the exact plastic one manufacturer uses vs another. In my case I needed several grades of abrasive material. No way I could have started with toothpaste. But may have been able to finish with toothpaste.

The ones on my Neon were terrible and I just rubbed with the fine road grit with a leather glove and got them quite a bit clearer... Not new clear but very noticeably better at night.

+2 Same thing with windows but replace "toothpaste" (good cleaner, depending) with "Windex" and same thing applies.

Looking at it today in direct sunlight, I can see the swirls still. The 3m kit uses sandpaper and a drill attachment. I can live with it but i rather not. I have some metal polish from mother's. Maybe i'll give that a shot later this week.

thing is-- unless there is a REAL UV protectant, won't the plastics yellow anyway? that has been my experience.

I found a set of 3rd-party honda lamps for my mother's '04 civic on amazon for $82. not oem, but identical to oem... sort of what the insurance companies would use for a repair when oem parts were not specified. Included all 3 bulbs per side. For the time/money and UV issues down the road, this made more sense to me.
