My commute is 100 miles r.t. daily.

At 2-3 dollars a gallon for gas, that could get expensive in a hurry.

Yeah, it's about $2.15 around here right now. I spend about $3000-3500 a year on gasoline for just this one car (not counting the wifey's at about half that). But I make decent coin, so I don't mind, because I love driving my Honda V6! I consider it money well spent.

Me too! Fine peice of engineering IMO.

I've put on 20k in just over 2 years of ownership. Wife drives 1 mi to work (and I walk) so it doesn't add up too quick. Change every 3k (4-ish months) with GC or Amsoil 5w-40 due to it being a known sludger.

Are any of those job-related? I wonder who drives the most "non-business/sales" miles? My 40K is all non-sales, so I wonder what others are doing. My commute is 100 miles r.t. daily.

I don't use my vehicle for work and have averaged 25,000 miles a year since the late 80s. I live 4 miles from work by the way, so most of those miles are weekend use. I don't think that figure is too unusual.

However, back when I DID use the car for work, 45,000 a year was the norm. Fortunately they eventually assigned me a company truck.

Roughly 4 months on 2 vehicles. In other words, both the Malibu and Dakota get about 3000 miles of use, each, in four months.

I did the 100+ mile RT commute and another 200-300 on weekends while house-hunting to get closer to work, for 11 months. I changed the oil approximately every 6 weeks, roughly every 4500 miles since it was 90% highway miles. Since I was driving a truck, I was filling up every 2 days.

The scary part is that once I moved closer to work and started filling up once a week, Shell actually sent me a letter stating that they noticed my usage of their credit card dropped off and reminding me what superior fuel they provided.
