Exactly!

and, for that matter, what is the 'need' to go at all?

Surely we are fast approaching a level of communication where the 'need' to be there in person is becoming redundant.

Pure vaporware. This is a paper airplane. SCRAMjet propulsion has been demonstrated for a grand total of 30 seconds.

It's awfully premature to start patenting airplanes that use SCRAMjet propulsion. They've not solved the heat problems or other challenges of hypersonic flight.

Might as well get a patent on my zero point energy gravitational wave displacement drive for interplanetary travel...it's just as close...

People? No...

Weapons? Well...

If you going half way around the world, why not get there as fast as possible. So, yes, there is a reason. It's called convenience.

I've done Sydney to NY, and it's not fun.

They may as well have patented a teleport machine, as it's about as close.

Seriously, NY to Sydney in half an hour would require Mach 24 across the width of the US...that's not happening, so there's another couple hours added to the dream.

Why, not? it all depends on height and sonic boom silouette... At 24 when the shockwave gets to the ground the plane would be outta sights hahaha

I do Left Coast to Melbourne a few times a year and it's not fun either.

a trip to the Pleiades could be made in 7 hours on this one

Our last holiday, we flew Hawaiian, and loved it.

Customs in Hawaii instead of LA was great, and it broke the trip nicely.

I do Hawaiian to NZ, a nice leg stretch. Also, NZA have a Jumbo out of San Francisco. Otherwise, all Qantas, UA and AA flights to West Coast are locked into LAX first. And that's your 22 hour minimum from Oz.
