3-Row SUV for Midlife Crisis

Just sayin'

🤣🤣🤣 They will get excommunicated from Bay area.

A 3rd row that can fit an adult male? I’d say they can drive their own car. Driving a giant behemoth is gonna get old. You can get a nice SUV for $50k and rent something big every once in a while. Or again, make them drive their own car.

You must be a hit with the ladies...
Three responses to that one what relevance does that have, two never had an issue with them I like women they seem to like me back, and three facts are facts.

Consider this 34% of lesbian marriages end in divorce, 19% of heterosexual marriages end the same, and 15% of gay marriage end in divorce. It's odd that the fewer "emotionally superior" of the two sexes you have in a marriage the better the marriage gets. It's almost like women aren't emotionally superior just more emotional which like body fat more isn't better past a point.

I think any superiority comes down to female competition modalities. When men compete it's on average direct. Me vs you vs him and we will see who is on top. Female competition on average is indirect it's done through self promotion or the derogation of rivals "catyness" if you will. So in conflicts with women you get that natural catyness that you aren't accustomed to dealing with. You have little experience with it so you loose because you dont understand the rules.

Women aren't superior emotionally just better at emotional manipulation on average. Which to me is far from a good thing.

Oh, so would I. Or that Caprice SS thing they made in the 1990s back when they Caprice was the Shamu-style and they were selling many as cop cars.
I asked my buddy years ago. What happened to the Caprices? One day they are all over as taxicabs and cop cars. It’s as if overnight, they were gone. We rented a 1993 and went on a 1300 mile road trip. It had 8 miles when we got it and the wheel covers were stolen in Montreal. Figuring my AMEX would cover it, I told the Alamo guy upon return. He said are you sure it had wheel covers when you picked it up? I said yeah. He repeated himself and winked. I said oh, actually, maybe it didn’t. Guess he didn’t want to do whatever he had to with a theft.

Love RWD. When our new car comes we can say, no FWD. no AWD. No 4 cyl. No V6. One I6, 2 V8, 2 RWD, 1 4WD. I’m living the dream (in my own mind) 😂

Knowing Critic in person, the "adult male" would be about 5'9" medium build (wear men medium size T shirt, 33inch waistline, 150lb). The grandparents basically need to be in 2nd row and force the car seat and wife (I think around 5'6" or so?) to 3rd row. My concern is older people may have a hard time getting in and out of 3rd row instead of how big the 3rd row is.

Most 3rd row SUV would in theory fit but it is a matter of comfort.

If Critic is willing to lease he can probably remove durability in the criteria and open up some questionable models. Or hoping that by the time the lease is done wife would be over the mid life crisis and settle for a 2 row SUV instead. This is the situation I would probably lease instead of buy or finance.

I really don't think he NEED a 3rd row just to bring grandparents on a "road trip" more than he want to "tow a boat someday". If he need to he can always rent one on demand.

It’s a bit sad but I would say GMC is over 100k, and Chevy generally in the low 90s. We are talking about the higher level …
Volume dealers with 50+ Tahoe’s have many at $60-$75k right now …
(So, the Premier at $70k) …
I know folks who paid to move them long distance for this reason …

We have test driven most of the recommended SUV's at some point over the last 5 years.

I just came across this forum post:
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/test...all-mica-full-size-3-row-suv.html#post5957516

This guy's opinions and shopping experience are turning out to be incredibly similar to mine.
I read it, and I cannot understand his take on X7 consumption. I had it for a week (I posted link) and for 5400lbs, it is absolutely frugal.
Unless he drove it for a very brief period of time and pushed the car very hard.
As for TX, I do not know whether it has the same seats as GHL, just better leather. But, I found those front seats absolutely abhorrent. They are the same as in the current Sienna, and IIRC, they are 1 1/2" shorter than the seats in our Tiguan. Comparison to seats in my 3 series is not even possible.

I would drive TX for longer period of time and focus on leg support.

I've seen dealers in Dallas, Chicago, and WI, showing discounts of $5k+ online. Posting on a forum, someone responded I know the dealer you are mentioning as I live here. They have tons of dealer add ons. Also, I saw one dealer add some odd term I wasn't familiar with that equaled the large discount. Then you look at East Hartford CT and there are no discounts they are still marking over list? Seems like the wild west, but strictly list price, most High Countrys are high 80's to low 90's depending on optioning. That's why with me, a purchase this large, I would prefer to order it and wait (some dealers say they don't discount custom orders), and have no add ons. I can deal with a $477 doc fee, sales tax, and registration. Once there are bogus items added to the sticker I feel it's very hard to get a fair deal.

I've also seen people say in the old days, 18%+ on GSO and GMO orders, but not today. Then someone said dealers give $12k discounts all day long where he is, but when asked to elaborate, as is often with forums, crickets lol

The above is what have learned since May, I'm no expert. Where I live there are always 0-4 Tahoes on the lot. Dallas 19+. I know people tend to "like" large dealerships, but I'm envisioning dealing with Will Ferrell in Eastbound and Down, and the carnival aspect of car sales 🤣

I found it, they call it "upfit." Their price has a disclaimer. You can see what I meant by any additional options, are going to make the first digit of the list price, match Gordie Howe's number. With sales tax of 6%, barely $1k to spare in keeping the first digit of the out the door price Alex Ovechkin's number.

Atlas/Grand Highlander offer the same interior room as TX for 10-25k less, but with a downgraded interior and arguably worse powertrain and suspension options.
My wife had very similar criteria to yours. She loved the TX but in the end we went with a Grand Highlander for 3 reasons. The upgraded interior didn't feel like it was worth the price bump, we were able to get all of the features we wanted in the Toyota (pano roof, vented seats, pvm, etc...), and the front end of the TX is polarizing (butt ugly if you ask me).

It’s a bit sad but I would say GMC is over 100k, and Chevy generally in the low 90s. We are talking about the higher level trim. The Tahoe equivalents. Two options that will take a Chevy into six figures are the performance intake and exhaust, and Brembo brakes. Now Tahoes are 103k.

What is funny to me is how more than 50% on the lot have optional rims to the tune of $2000, and black out packages. People are into “the show” these days.

Btw I saw all remaining ZR1 orders were canceled. That has to be really disheartening for an ordinary well off person. To wait and wait and then be told this late, sorry, a new order will need to be submitted for a 2026. Oh and btw the price has gone up $7,200.
Dude...the ZR1 is a 1/2 million dollar car. No "ordinary well off person" is going to be disappointed, I assure you, lol!

My friend owns a hotel in a European ski resort. Needed a tractor for snow removal and other stuff.
He told his wife, "Baby, I got you a Lamborghini (they are He is very successful)." She went downstairs like flying to check it out:

Didn't talk to him for like a month.
Corrected it for you.

Also, fun story, and it's ironic that this is how Lambo started, involving not only a tractor, but an entitled wife:
