3 Pack of Pennzoil Synthetic Euro L 5W-30 5qt. for $43.29 ($2.89/qt) @ Amz

One new feature, they claim to deliver in about a week. The last couple offers it was one to two months.
The question becomes...order now, or wait, that it might go lower...or miss out and it goes back up?

Agree-- there is a game theory component as to whether one should buy now or wait.

Fortunately, I don't need to worry about that as I have enough on hand from previous purchases that I don't need to buy any in this round.

So, if it goes into the mid $40's again, I'll buy. If not, I'll wait until next year.

Seems to have been a very short window-- back up to $112 now!
Which makes no sense, since previously the single jug price was $26.44 or three for $79.32.

But now the three jug price is $112.50 and the single jug is not offered.

Their algorithm is very strange...or maybe there is actually a marketing or production person making the call. :)

Yep, the pricing on all these Amazon deals is just nuts-- filter prices/deals are just as inexplicable as the oil.

One minute the prices are ridiculously high, the next minute they are ridiculously low.

Stuff wasn't moving so they dropped the price. Then there was a surge in buyers, so they upped the price. There hoping the momentum will convince some idiot to pay 112.50.

It will be back to $80 in a few days.

Amazon will even charge different customers different amounts based on their purchase history. It shouldn't be legal, and likely isn't - but they clearly don't care. The Quants are in charge now.

Probably not as you suggest. For the past 8 months, the 5 quart jug was not even offered, so there was nothing to move. Then a few weeks ago the jug was offered at $26.44, a price match with Walmart. Then in the past couple weeks the 3 jug box reappeared at $112.50. Then, last week the massive price drop. Then increase today...with the removal of the single jug at $26.44. So the 3 jug price of $112.50 means each jug is $37.50. I suspect most buyers will just go to WalMart, or some other retailer with a lower online price. Amazon shoppers are typically savvy enough to check around.

I got in during the price drop. It shipped from New Jersey to San Bernardino then “damaged, undeliverable”. Amazon issued an auto-refund.
Sorry to hear. Based on this thread (and Amazon reviews of the product) there seems to be a pretty high ratio of one of the four occurring:
1) Damaged shipment.
2) Incorrect viscosity or variant of Pennzoil shipped (eg 0w-20 high mileage or Platinum, etc) It happened to me.
3) Amazon simply canceling the order as "out of stock", and not fulfilling the order at all.
4) Wrong quantity shipped, such as receiving one jug instead of three.

Because this is a short term deal, if they credit you back for whatever reason, there is no way to replace the product immediately. You have to wait for the promotion to pop up again.

This this reason, on my next order, I plan to order at least two or three separate orders, crossing fingers that most arrive correctly. If I get them all, just a bonus.

And note that the price actually went up again today-- from $112 to $114!

The prices on this item are just so weird...

I still have 6 jugs of these in my stash, but will be using them up this summer on my 3 Odysseys.

I don't think I want to buy more of this oil again, since with aging vehicles, high mileage oil with seal conditioners to treat the oil seals to prevent leaks is becoming more important than using oil with a Euro certification. I couldn't find any "high mileage" oil at any price that has an Acea A3/B4 or C3 approval.

Per the several threads you started in spring of 23, you were told (and agreed) that:

--The only sources of leaks on your vans are easily repairable so using seal conditioner was unnecessary
--Using oil with seal conditioner on an engine that is currently not leaking wasn't a good idea
--Euro certifications require oil to be seal-friendly, which may be enough to prevent leaks on your vans

Based on all that, I don't think there is any way that I would prioritize seal leakage (by using HM oil) over the (objectively much more important) wear protection that you get with Euro certs.

But you have started so many threads about HM oil/leak prevention and now have decided to forego superior certs for seal-swelling HM, so I guess leak-prevention is a very high priority for you.

I'm not sure why so much worry about that, but I understand that everyone has their own priorities, so I respect your decision to switch.

Hope it all works out for you!

I can definitely see the advantage of the ACEA A3/B4 and MB 229.5 approvals, and the desire for HTHS >= 3.5 and the high levels of anti-wear additives phosphorus / zinc of this oil. With those approvals it's one of the best oils on the planet for an extremely cheap price.

Value = Quality / Price.

You're getting an extremely high quality oil at a very cheap price with the 3 jugs periodic sale on Amazon,
so the value is very high which is a good thing.

I hope it goes on sale again, so you can stock up.
