The Shoe looking one?

That sounds like the M-Coupe. Eitherway, Mobil 1 0W40 could be a good start, or TWS 10W60.

What's the engine in there, the S52?

since it doesn't get really cold in sf bay area, i'll throw this option in...a good, ie, pennzoil, or castrol gtx 20w50 conventional. and maybe looking into redlines water wetter. penz

Hey all,

Well changed my oil yesterday to Redline 10-40...Ran four 25 minute sessions today at Laguna Seca (saw about 285 degrees at the highest...wtill hot!!..oil cooler is on the way)
So thus far I have put 120 street miles on and about 100 track miles (saw temps of 285ish on the top end) on the Redline 10-40.

Anyway, what's a good mileage figure to do my first analysis? For reference I will be doing two Autocross's and two track event days in the month of November (so probably about 200 track miles). With my car and the abuse she takes in mind at what mileage should I do my first analysis on the Redline 10-40?

Thanks,
MSH

I am not an expert but if it was mine i would do
my first analysis and change at 3000 miles

Nah you're wasting your $$$ analysing it so quickly. Did you notice any decrease in oil temps using Redline? Thats what other people like to claim...

Most likley your analysis ## will be messed up all to **** and gone, when you install the oil cooler, as it will most likley leave a lot of copper behind, ansd perhaps other metal .

I've been road racing/AutoXing/Dragging my 220whp VW GTI 1.8T for 2 years now on Redline 5w-40. 280deg oil temps. used oil analysis are great, and my interval is getting bumped to 7k miles. Will post results.

I won't be adding the oil cooler until after the first analysis actually, so I may be pressed into doing it sooner rather than later. I realize once the oil cooler is installed it will change my numbers a bit as the car will be running much cooler. I think for me the first analysis is just to get an idea of what my engine looks like, as well as, find out how the Redline oil stands up to the high temp abuse I'm seeing

In regards to running cooler with Redline....here is the data
Yesterday at Laguna Seca
Ambient Temps = 90's
Oil = Redline 10-40
Oil Temps = 280-285
Note: Added a bottle of Redline Water Wetter to radiator before event

September 11th at Thunderhill
Ambient Temps = 100+
Oil = Mobil 1 15w50
Oil Temps = 290-295
Note: No Water Wetter added for this event

So I did run a tad cooler at Laguna, but I would assume that is because of the cooler ambient temps, the lighter viscosity oil, and potentially the water wetter??

Thanks all for the feedback.

MSH

You really should try the 300V. You won't find a better oil for high-temperature racing conditions. Well worth the extra $2-3/qt. over Redline.
