'26 Escape Can't Be Sold in 6 States

Agreed. The air seems way cleaner than in the past. But on the vehicle side, do you put all the credit with C.A.R.B., or would 49 state regs have done the same? Outside looking in, but CA seems far more over-regulated in this regard for whatever reason. This and all the other regulations, rules, laws, codes, specs etc., that are CA specific would constitute the lunatic fringe @Trav was talking about IMHO.
I don’t know the net impact - dozens and dozens of improvements make it hard to pinpoint any single one …
I still think this vehicle is just an F series enabler …
Those trucks alone are like a Fortune 100 entity 😉

Regular folks buy superior compact SUVs made by Japanese.

The rental/commercial fleets get impacted with this in those states.

I don’t know a single person at least in New England area who bought a recent Escape as personal vehicle. It’s a fleet vehicle.

You mean when the cars had basically NO emissions equipment and ran super rich carbureted engine, no vapor recovery at gas pumps, basic gridlock everywhere with cars running and spewing all that filth? Haven't these things improved since then?
That equipment still doesn't eliminate all pollution-believe it or not. Just because a car has fuel injection doesn't make it pollution free. There was still plenty of air pollution as late as the 1970s.

quote-

In the 1970s, California, particularly the Los Angeles area, faced severe air quality issues, with smog levels reaching alarming heights. This was largely due to a combination of factors including a large number of vehicles, industrial emissions, and specific geographical and weather conditions.

I love how others who haven't "lived it" just don't understand it.
