to OP: nope. 1 range colder (from a 5 to a 6) doesn't make that much of a difference in your case.
Carbon build up in combustion chambers typically attributed to the following operational conditions:
(1) frequent short trips (auto choke kicked in too often to richen the F/A mixture for the aid of cold starts)
(2) engine is running cold due to faulty/too cold of a thermostat.
(3) inferior gasoline.
(4) ignition/timing issues
(5) carb out of adjustments.
