I bought a Suzuki Sierra with 210,000km, I have no idea what engine oil it has been running. Factory recommendation is 10W-40 as temps here range from 5°C to above 40°C. I can get 15w40 mineral or 20W-50 mineral or 15W-50 semi-syn.
If you have a supercheap nearby, try this for 5-6000KM and keep an eye on consumption. It'd probably be perfectly happy on 15w40 too if you already have some.
If it's using a lot just bump it up to homebrand 20W-50, can't imagine this thing set you back too much?
I'm a fan of synthetic. Locate a half-decent automotive shop (Supercheap, Autobarn, Repco etc) and buy a 10W-40, preferably synthetic. 210,000 is getting on a bit but if it's been looked after it should still be in good condition, If it burns oil, go thicker, but start with 10W-40. Don't go thicker unless you have to.
210,000km isn't really that much in the grand scheme of things. Use what your owner's manual recommends. If you have burning issues, step up *a* grade (i.e. xW-40 to xW-50).
If you're looking to go 10w40, 15w40 or 20w50 - take a look at Shell's Helix range of oils at KMart. A good quality product that happens to be the best oil-buy in Australia on a consistent basis.
