I’ve been following along. Nice work and true dedication. I’ve turned into a charging nerd myself the last year.
Thanks, it is easy when u have a 12V sae connector. Most car owner don’t even try to maintain their batteries.

Proof that charging is the way to go. I’ve been seeing 100% state of health and 95-100% charge on all my cars by using a 2012 and then rotating to a Pulsetech. I don’t know that there’s anything better on the market than those 2.
From my experience, just "charging" is not enough. I was using a Granite Digital "save a battery" 50 watt (roughly 4 amps) battery tender 4 or 5 days a week for a few years, and started seeing a decline in CCA over about 11 or 12 months, even with continual use, posted above. When I switched to using a Battery Minder 128CEC2 with a different algorithm, I saw significant improvement in the battery performance. It bascially restored the battery performance back to where it was over a year previously.
 
Yep…I’ve gotten rid of everything that isn’t battery minder or Pulsetech. I did still keep my cheap little motor powers for odds and ends. What’s your opinion on the Pulsetech 355?

At what Internal Resistance should we start replacing the battery for group 24 F?
Difficult to say since the internal resistance is different when the CCA rating is 585, 650, 710,750 etc. When the soh is < 60% start shopping for a battery.
 
My battery died at 70% SOC, am not to keen on trusting it.
I would use SOH and not SOC as a general battery replacement guide. A 3.5L engine needs 350 CCA at a minimum to start and the battery’s SOC must be greater than 12.4 V. 70% is 12.3 and on the edge for battery replacement. After XC400 battery charging, the storage and voltage have an intertwined relationship. After fully charging and waiting 24hrs, a flooded cell battery’s measurement less than 12.7 V and less than the battery CCA label rating indicate a slow decay towards replacement.

My mistake, I meant to say state of health. These capacitance are not reliable as temperature/resistance alters the reading.
 
Added distilled water
BA2012 charged for 7hrs
24hrs off of the BM 2012 (6 AM to 6 AM) No headlights on.
Garage temp 73F.

I brought back my boat battery that was severely neglected with the xc400. I I tested it yesterday before we launched it and it’s up to 89% SOH as to the 45% I started with. I’ve kept it on a charger everyday since spring.

Drove 120 min round trip
5 hrs later and no 30 sec headlight on
Looks like it holds a charge

Current overnight garage temp is 79F.

Without load testing, the 4 yr old battery is assessed 1 yr later as chargeable/capacity compliant and comparable to a new battery.
( I am not declaring it a new battery). Considering the original state in post #1, it has come a long way with much tender loving 🥰 care.

The RX350’s battery will be connected to the wife’s BM 128CEC2 (a slightly different current/voltage threshold before going into float mode) and not to the BM 2012 which will be redirected to the ES350. We will measure for differences in several days.

Both BMs are at the 2 amp charging setting.

Consolidated the 12V sae and on-board PulseTech desulphbator wires to a wego connector that allows easier access to the left side for h2o fill maintenance. There is a fuse after the wego connector.

Majority of your test results are at way to high of charge. Your testing with a residual. Your headlights are not taking enough off.

Should be at 12.66 (full charge on 6 cells) or less. So that will inflate your health number and such.

Still the battery looks good to me because the internal resistance is reasonably low.

My guess is it will continue to start your car if it’s charged or ran every couple of days. Whether it will do so after sitting a couple weeks is the real question.
 
128CEC2 overnight and waited 3hrs before the measurement.
No difference between the two BMs. Same values obtained as post #71.
Temp is 78F.

Returning back to the 2012.

Can’t ask for much more than that out of your battery. Although I had my wife’s new car battery completely crap out in a week setting at the airport, after it had tested @95 SOH the month prior.

The Ancel BA101 conductance tester is only part of the picture that unfortunately does not test load. I use an on-board Ancel BM200 that blue tooth recorded voltage real-time per day. On my 14 Venza I can watch the voltage spike downward during a start load and observe how it rapidly recovers. I am sure ur wife’s battery’s voltage spike below 12V and did not recover at all and therefore the car did not start. It probably flat line.

I have a bluetooth battery monitor I purchased on eBay for $15 four years ago, they work pretty good. Model # BM2 Free app, but turn off the location services, as some are concerned about that being nefarious. I did some research on the app and found it is also used as a parking "car finder"...but that part of the app is not used with the battery monitor, so simply turn it off. On the chart you can see the temperature compensation working as the voltage rises and falls with my garage temperature. You can also observe the daily battery test and near the end when I finally took the car for a drive. You can chose to chart one day, seven days or 15 days.

I switched from the Battery Minder 2012 AGM to the Pulse Tech XC450 (set to AGM mode) last night...noted the lower bulk/absorption charging voltage, as well as the lower float voltage...not sure what to make of that. Just different algorithm. On the graph you can see when I went for a drive the evening of July 13th, and swapped to the Pulse Tech last night, July 15th
