21 in snapper, self propelled, transmission quest

My snapper is 11 years old, model is RP2167517bv. walk behind,
standing behind the mower it looks like the shaft that comes out of the transmission has twisted itself off on the mower right side where the shaft goes through the frame bearing that holds this shaft (about 3 inches from the transmission itself). It looks OK where it goes into the transmission.
this is a short axle on the right side, maybe 3 inches long, the wheel slips on its end and wheel is held on by a nut. the shaft is round but has two long flat sections on it.
Do the shafts pull out of the transmission? can I order a new shaft? I can not find any info on the web about the transmission and these shafts? does anyplace repair them?

You'll have to go to the link below and then click on the Transmission (Differential) drawing. It's the last drawing on the far right of the side scroll. On that drawing, are you talking about the part shown as Reference Number 13 ?

I downloaded the parts list and operator's manual; which contains some basic repair instructions.

By the way, the model number for your Snapper is 84759.
RP2167517BV is the description number.

Go to Partstree.com I have been getting my snapper stuff there. They are decent priced and ship fast. They will have the diagram for the differential. You will have to take the whole thing apart to get the axel replaced.

I have a few hardware stores around me that service and sale Snapper mowers and parts. If you have one near by, give them a call because lots of times I can get parts cheaper at their parts department than ordering online. Just depends on what it is. If they don't stock it, they can get it.

Yah I buy belts from the sons of a guy my father bought his OPE parts from. I was looking for a 1" snap ring and the local Ace only went up to 5/8 Then I remembered a guy who has started a small OPE fixing business. Yup, he had one cost me a buck. Whilst I was there I guy I've known for 60 yrs dropped off some welding work. Try that on the inter webz
