20wt vs 30wt for leaks

Make sure we are talking the same thing- what specifically do you mean by desired outcome?

As in lessen or hopefully stop the amount that’s already leaking from somewhat faulty seals. The increase in oil pressure from a thicker oil possibly being counter productive.

What is your worry about oil pressure ? Your engine has an oil pressure relief valve, it will never exceed manufacturers set pressure. An oil seal on a pressurized shaft will have a cavity behind with a drain hole. It has been mentioned several times - crankcase pressure.

It shouldn't be a major factor since in most cases the seal sees crankcase pressure rather than full oil pressure ( but not always)

But remember, no amount of oil "anything" will have any effect on a loss of mechanical integrity of a seal
