2026 Rivian R2 First Review

I thought they were all gone. I think they were lease only, could be wrong. Range was pretty poor, as I recall. But they had a big hand in starting the EV phenomenon.
Ford also sold ranger ev in very small numbers. Then there's the Electrameccanica Solo where the company recalled all of them and junked them.

10-80% charging test. 27 minutes. Nothing special, but a bit faster than a Model Y.

Interesting follow up this test. The CCS1-NACS adapter used in this test actually melted pins in the adapter. Tom (the guy who did the test) said it was an older Tesla-made adapter and the newer ones should be better.

Basically R2 can pull 600A but the adapters generally are limited to 500A. Some even less. The Rivian-branded one is J3400 compliant so it should handle the full 600A.

Just image people buying a low quality $79 generic one and putting 600A through it. 😬

Long story short, for fastest charging, it’s best to use an Alpitronic HYC400 charger (IONNA, Mercedes HP, Walmart, etc.) because they can supply 600A through the NACS connector to any EV.

Start this at ~23:30
