2026 Ram 1500: The Hemi is back in business

Interesting that all Hemis get the GT exhaust.
For anyone that likes the sound of a trad V8, there isn't much better. Neighbours won't appreciate the cold start in the morning, but man, it sounds so good. Has me tempted to get a Rebel Hemi.

That was a surprise lol, they're putting that exhaust on every 2025 v8 and also a "protest badge" instead of a badge saying "hemi".

Tim K is back!

My truck is going to get that exhaust as well, I just need to find the parts.

According to a Ram commercial on the Michigan race this past Sunday. They basically apologized, said they realized their mistake and are producing it again.
BTW...Nascar on Prime has more commercials than ever!

If I was to buy a gas Ram half-ton truck, it would be the Hurricane I-6 all the way. Getting your torque peak at 1500 rpm rather than 3500-4000 is just a lot more enjoyable experience for every day driving.

We have the baby brother in our Wrangler, it's an impressive 4 cylinder.

270hp
295ft-lbs

While turbo'd engines are inherently more complex to get all the air/exhaust directed into the right places, doesn't the I6 have two separate cooling circuits, two pumps, etc. Usually extra bits are not great for longevity.

I blame ze Germans. TIPM 🤮

Goes back further than that, many decades.

Last week had an issue with my Ram.

Cruise control wouldn't work.

Then, "AutoPark Disabled". Hmmmm cool story bro this truck doesn't have AutoPark. Not sure if AutoPark was even available on 4th gen trucks.

Then, "Service Electronic Parking Brake". Ok more cool stories bro, this truck is a Classic and has old school foot pedal parking brake.

Disconnected the battery for half hour. Hasn't come back and drove 1100KM on Saturday.

Tangential to this discussion: Why is HEMI written in all caps? Is it an acronym? Trademark or logo?

The 5.3 doesn't want for power either - under normal driving conditions. The 5.3 has been updated. Whether those updates are a good thing seem to be a mixed bag.

Recently tore down a 2019 L84 @ 70,000....All the DFM lifters fit loosely in the guides, Not good for lifter longevity.

The L84 does not have a 2 stage oil pump like the L83, L86, L87 & LT1, Also no piston cooling jets.

This engine will likely prove less reliable than the L83 it replaced.

My Mopar experience is primarily with their 70's-80's RWD offerings, with only a handful of experiences based upon a K-Car and 1st gen minivan. Very possible I had good luck of the draw, as these cars were all over 10 years old by the time I owned them. The TIPM remark was based on my '09 Caliber. I wanted to like that car, but it was a disappointment to me- even at 3 years old.

My oldest ChryCo that I have owned was a 1989 Dodge Van, the full size with a 318 in it. That one had an electrical fire in the dashboard.
