2025 Corvette

I thought GM was going to cash in on the SUV craze by making Corvette into an SUV. Another "delayed" target...
This price point reminds me of all the good choices I've made. Needless to say I'm holding my money tight.
They are pushing the Corvette branding as far as they can but there are different buyers now. I can't tell much difference at all in this model vs previous year other than hearing they went to a mid engine design within the last few years. Most likely the blinding prices on them that I can't see straight. Cool car but can't compare "pulling like a freight train" like was stated. It is no puller that you'd see in a truck designed engine. LOL

I dont like the newer mid engines. They are not what a Corvette is supposed to be. Sure, does it drive better? Maybe. But a Corvette is Americas sports car, not a wannabe Ferrari Killer. Which I might add that the c6 Z06 and ZR1 were already just that, in the conventional classic corvette anatomy.

Also, I just dont understand the top speed limit. With 1000 hp, you should be able to go faster than the old record holder, the Beautiful McLaren F1, with a measly 650 hp, was able to achieve 240+ mph. Maybe someone could give some insight on another thread.

I get it, it a sales thing. It does look cool though.

This could be argued all day. Original vision for the corvette was to be mid-engine. One which would rival a Ferarri and other euro sports cars. Good handling, high revs, etc.

But, we have had ~65 years of a front engine corvette with pushrod V8's which we have become accustomed to.

The camaro was always the brute. A blue collar pony car/muscle car option. The corvette was always supposed to be king of the hill and offer stiff competition against its Euro counterparts for less money. And the corvette evolves and becomes better every year, essentially.

To each their own. I think it's amazing the ZR1 is a GM production car, honestly.

^^Yes.
1.5 years ago, I saw a white one (I like white cars). It was pleasing to the eye as a 'supercar' or international contender/competitor.
The white with black features/highlights looked clean and precise.
I don't see the same 'charm' of the older one. The new one is overly serious.
The side air scoops seem larger and otherwise worked with an extra vane.
Rear spoiler for track use? Too bad they're not removable. Pigeons actually do light upon them in traffic.

$180K is relatively cheap considering what all the European supercars cost, that this thing would trounce. 1,064 HP, and a 215 MPH top end is hard to beat.
There's not a lot of roads, even in New Mexico, where I would go 215mph /
Close to a 180, yeah; but at 215mph the roads get quite narrow /

No doubt. But the purchaser of one of these pays to have it.... Not necessarily use it. Much like the motorcyclist who buys a Kawasaki 1400 Ninja.

Depending on where you live, these vehicles spend the majority of their lives under 65 MPH. Triple digit speeding is criminal. Not to mention what it will do to your insurance.

Of course I am referring to the 1953 and beyond, which was front engine production. Not talking concept.

I see no advantages to the C7 from the C6, other than crashing into walls, and do not see any "better". IMO the C6 is the best out there overall.

I drove a brand new Zr1 in 2009, scary.

I disagree that the ZR1 is a production car, but not really. Sure dont see many of them around. In fact you see more lambos and Ferraris around. Yes production car based, but then again, every normal Ferrari is a production car, from Ferrari.

What I'm stating is Zora wanted the corvette to be mid engine. Starting back in the 50's. That was his whole intent for the production car.

You don't see many ZR1 C8 corvettes out there because it was just released like yesterday.

The other ZR1 models are low volume but absolutely a production car. Factory ordered and sold through dealerships.

Kind of agree on the C6. I think it is an amazing bang for the buck option right now. Seriously considered selling my mustang to get a C6 Z06.

Didn't the Bugatti Veyron advertise 1,000 hp when it came out? And that thing had twice the cylinders, and cost over $1 million. And it looked like an inverted bath tub with wheels.

Performance wise that Vette is a steal in comparison.

Horsepower is useless if you don’t have traction.

With 1000 horsepower I would think the C8 could do at least 250 MPH.

If these prove to be a problem getting to the McDonalds drive-thru first, I might have to turn up the boost on my Sportscar...
