My father is considering purchasing and extended factory warranty. With the tried and truly 6.7l hemi and the 8spd zf tranny would there be any reason to do this?
Most are refundable (from the manufacturer) on a prorated basis depending on how much time has passed. But why would you want to cancel? If I bought a new Ford or RAM product-I would definitely buy one-with the intention of keeping the warranty until it runs out.Stellantis does offer a refundable extended warranty if it is unused, but it does cost more than their normal plan. I have one. But if you end up using it, it’s a double lose.
This particular plan is 100% refunded after the conclusion of the policy period if it is unused. Most are refundable (from the manufacturer) on a prorated basis depending on how much time has passed. If he has to buy an extended warranty, he's buying the wrong vehicle.
It generally doesn’t work that way for new vehicle plans — the plan starts at the same time as the vehicle’s original in-service date. It’s often times better to buy right before the warranty is up. Gets you a longer term without being more expensive.
Say right now, you get a 7 year/100k warranty for $4k. It’ll end in 2032 or 100k miles. If you wait 2 years it’ll go 7 years more until 2034 or 100k miles + whatever he mileage he has.
