I have a 2024 Honda Ridgeline with 25k miles and a strange problem has appeared. Slow starting. Overnight it starts fine. Even after work it starts fine. But after its hot and waiting 15 min is slow to crank. I had the battery tested and its good. We have had very hot weather here could it be "heat soaking" the starter and causing slow cranks?

thanks!

Being a 2024 the car has start/stop feature, correct? Is that having any issues when hot?

Start simple, check the ground cable on the battery connection.

How was the battery tested?

Check voltage at battery terminals while cranking. In a newer vehicle I’d expect to see 10-11 while cranking.

Some Honda starters have had early failure from solenoid contact wear, such as late teens CRVs around 40-60k.

Also could be that battery has a weak cell, my first guess. Turn car off. Turn headlights on for 15 minutes. Test voltage. Better be above 12.

My advice is, being that it's under warranty, anything you touch regarding this problem, may void the warranty. So, make them give you a loaner, and let them figure it out. Wash you're hands of it and hope they give you a nice loaner. The last loaner I got from Honda was a 2025 CRV with 3,000k on it :) Keep a paper trail in case they keep " blowin you off" ( Oh, we can't find anything type answer ) The loaner is free, unlimited miles. Just need to bring back with same amount of gas. Beat the crap out of it !!!!! :)

Go to the dealer and make them fix it. Going off what you said if I were to diag that vehicle the first thing I would do is try to replicate the problem. I would do an amp draw test on the starter and do a charge start system analysis. Good luck. Take it to the dealer. I would not touch it if I were you due to the warranty

Run the gas tank down to empty and refill the tank at a different gas station. It’s possible you got a bad tank of gas

Dealer. Don't touch. Warranty at stake here. Get a loaner so you're not down a car. That's what they do up here in New York anyway.,,,don't know about Louisiana.......
