2024 Honda Ridgeline slow starting

We know now that this theory is incorrect. But I would have told you that a few days ago. Bad gas does not equal intermittent hard starting in hot conditions.
While I’m glad that the OP got this issue squared away.

Bad gas can absolutely affect engine starting. If the gasoline has the wrong Reid Vapor Pressure (RVP) it can cause hard starts in a warmed up (hot) engine. In fact, if there is anything incorrect with the mix of hydrocarbons in the fuel it can affect engine starting.

Update. Still doing it. Its a lot better but its still cranks too slow when heat soaked. I guess Ill have to wait for a code or the starter to fail for dealership to address.

I have a similar issue on my 2020 Ridgeline. Usually it starts just fine but sometimes it will barely turn over and then stop. I'll shut it off and then it will start fine. I thought it was the battery so I replaced it last year and thought it fixed it, but within a week or two it started happening again.

Let me know if you figure out your issue.

The dealership replaced the starter. that fixed it. In fact, it starts faster now than when New! A lot faster. I think the starter was bad from the factory or they revised it. Good thing I have an extended warranty. $2500 parts and labor!!

Nice! just replaced a CRV starter that did similar. ‘cept it quit altogether. And it does sound like it is cracking much faster now.

**** shame, a 2020 and 2024 Honda with issues already. Honda should be ashamed of themselves. They were such a great manufacturer back in the 80's,90, early 2000's. Couldn't pay me to buy a Honda nowadays. Had my fair share of problems with my 13' Pilot. Cost me plenty of money to fix it, and sold it for peanuts in mint condition. Book value was only $ 6000.00 in 2024 with 106k on it. It was a $ 48,000.00 truck. Honda not even holding their value anymore.

While I'm no fan of Honda nor repairs required before 100k, this would be why there is a warranty.

I'm a bit dubious about $2,500 to do a starter though. Seems high, even for a dealer? but one never went to the dealer for their low prices.
