The land of USA-made Subies!
Leftover 2024 Accord rental, 28k rented on 4/27/25.

I’m not a huge Honda fan, especially after the EarthDreams fiasco. So when I arrived last minute (forgotten, even) in FAT and I got assigned a year-old, 28k Accord, I was less than thrilled. But actually, the 1.5TGDI CVT is decent for city work, especially in “S” mode (which doesn’t stand for slower). It’s obviously not an acceleration beast, but it’s torquey for a tiny 4 thanks to the CVT and good programming. If I had spent “my” money on this car, for the fit & finish and overall driving experience, I would be pleasantly pleased. The infotainment lags far behind due to no wireless Apple CarPlay, and the base stereo is like cussing at a Catholic priest DURING Mass, but the car itself isn’t objectionable in any way. It’s nothing to write home about, but in some cases this is actually a commendable aspect, like it is here IMHO. It’s not like the car does anything great, nor terrible… it’s a fabulous “appliance” that does what it’s supposed to, with zero drama. As much as I hate to admit, this wouldn’t be a car I’d buy new, but maybe 3-4 years old after the lease this could be an amazing used pickup for somebody who doesn’t want to spend any brain power on their commuter.

^^^ You said it perfectly!
This is what Accord's have always been. Nothing particularly outstanding, "It's that they do everything well" according(no pun) to the respected automotive press. Better than most in the segment, I would say. Now that there are fewer & fewer "mainstream midsize family sedans" to compare the Accord to, its easily one of the best. But with the few remaining, they're all good!

Sums it up pretty well.
The last new one i purchased was in 2013 and it was reliable but had numerous QC issues. Bad paint, peeling alloys, and so on.

I have had many Hondas and Acuras over the years and the road noise was an irritation and in the very early years only getting 290 miles range out of a tank...

Last year I was in a new Accord on an Uber ride for about 70 miles and your review was spot on.

Honestly that sounds terrible. A 2024 without wireless CarPlay and Android Auto?

I tend to agree, but CarPlay has been very spotty for me since October. I'm constantly toggling Bluetooth (on my iPhone) off and on to fix it. If it connects, it's fine, but it doesn't always connect on first try.

Sorry No Thanks , Honda made Great Accord 2.0 Turbo - Hooked to 6 speed or 10X - as in - Real Transmissions . .

Every Freaking Time I Drive a CVT - it like getting into a Snowmobile of Mini Bike , so now They Pump in all Fake Sounds like CVT is Actually Transmission , Haaa LOL
( Sterile Commuter Car ) @ BEST . .
All Manufacture Push any Vesicle that's Engaging to 40K to 49K to 59K

O M G Buy Mini Home for that . . what's Next 8yr Car Loans : :coffee::cool:

Old Transmissions would have Oil in them for 80K ~ 150K - Now must change out every 30K @ $140 ~ $180 Bucks

Sure DIY Oil for $65 , some Models have to Flush through 10qts to get Clean Out , so many just do 4-5qts then change

Drop ATF Oil 3 Times in Shorter Intervals - using - More Oil all for Improved 5% < LOL > this all about Greedy Manufactures . .

The Civic is better suited for that engine imo, I really disliked the lane nanny too.

My girlfriend’s 16 Civic is an appliance and perfect for her. My largest complaint is road and wind noise on longer trips. Great for shorter runs and city work and gets absurdly good MPG. Non turbo MPI 2.0. No DI stuff.

Dead reliable. We had some really beat up county road shoulders for a year (won’t get into that mess) and I’m pretty sure that caused the early failure of the RH front wheel bearing. Only other repair to date was an extended warranty coverage on leaking AC condensers (totally free).

114k miles now. 0 plan of ever getting rid of it but next up for her will probably be a higher trim level accord of sorts (likely hybrid). Civic will turn into my daily/errand runner that doesn’t require a truck.

Thanks for the review!

The infotainment situation wouldn't be deal breaker, 'for me'. Beyond that, I would/will not purchase an Accord with 1.5L. It's 2.0L Hybrid Honda or another make like Toyota. Seen too vids with head gasket issues on relatively low miles 1.5L, especially Accords. 'Perhaps' Honda has addressed it in newest models, but unknown at this point.

"Fabulous appliance" sound right. Thanks for review.

The weight difference between Civic and Accord is about 200 lbs.

A coworker bought a '24 with the 1.5T, and every time I ask him how he likes it, he says "it's fast". His old car was an Accord with 320k miles on it. 2010 MY or thereabouts.

No disrespect to the OP, but this review comes across as condescending. What is an "EarthDreams Fiasco?" Honda has sold more than 4M cars in the US alone with this engine, and it's largely been a good unit.

If You Really Spend at Least 3-4 Days Reading all Call Backs & Issues on All Manufactures Cars & Transmissions

What was your previous handle?

What with all BS about Car Play & Android BS , How about No DVD Player for My 300 Plus Music DVD's

No NAV which Gives Directions Way Deep Up into Mountains in Middle of Down Pour or Heavy Snow & Electric is Out for 500 Miles

Not to Mention most of those are Simple Up Grades with Radio Interface Unit . . but Not NAV !

I think it's important to point out that complaints and problems are amplified in forums. It's easy to make it sound like the these 1.5T engines are suffering failures left and right, they're not.

I'm not saying that the 1.5T is anything like an old NA K24A, it's clearly not, but it's not a Theta II either.

Disappointing but very easy to remedy with a $50 wireless adapter, so really a non issue.

I rented a 2025 Equinox gasser that had it...you sure the EV doesn't?

I'm sure it doesn't. They have it disabled on all of their EVs. Except the Prologue which is really a GM EV but Honda had them enable it. That's why I got one. I think the only other modern GM EV with CarPlay/Android Auto is the Silverado EV WT (work truck trim) but the RST (consumer trim) has it disabled. It's BS!
