About to purchase a 2024 6.6 Duramax 3/4 ton. Been out of the diesel world about 11 years, no way my Tundra can yank a 18,000 toy hauler. In the past in my old Cummins, Ive always used Delvac or Delo......is Delvac still really good stuff? You guys still running 10k-15k miles between changes? My truck will be towing all highway, but pulling a 18k toy hauler......

Delvac just celebrated 100 years and it is FF in the DMax …
Have not seen numbers lately - but historically the Noack has been Delvac>>Delo>>Rotella … (15W-40) …
Lots of CAT drums hold Delvac 😉
Delvac 1 ESP is the best in 5W-40 …

About a ESP formulation that hasn't been available for many years. ESP is still good stuff but it's not "Delvac 1" of legend.

If 15w is acceptable for your climate, I'd have a hard time not converting to Delo ADF 600 and following the rebate cycles. Actually, that's what I did.

have not seen an SDS since 2024 - but it was still 30-50% PAO

A very strong contender is Mobil 1 5W-40 Turbo Diesel Truck. It looks to have a slightly higher HTHS than Delvac 1 5W-40, 3.8 v 3.7, and there is slightly higher ZDDP from what I read. Note: Both oils are technically capped at 1200ppm ZDDP to meet CK-4 specs.
Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck looks like it has a touch more calcium too. 1450ppm vs 1250ppm.
Identical Mg at 900ppm.
Pour points are identical at -54ºF. They are very similar oils.

This is the link to the punchline:

If we assume that 2026 ESP 5w-40 is the same as 2015 edition ESP 1 0w-40, then yeah, it's great stuff.

Are you sure you were looking at a newer SDS?

Mobil removed PAO from Mobil Delvac 1 5w40 during the CK-4 rollout back in 2017. There were threads on here discussing it.

Last time I bought HDEO in 2024 I checked again and it was still primarily group III and some GTL. No PAO was listed.

I tried checking the mobil site and Mobil Delvac 1 ESP 5w40 SDS wouldn’t load for me. Weird.

I found this SDS from 2024 and it’s what I remember. No PAO in Mobil Delvac 1 and not an HDEO with premium ingredients like it used to be.

Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck did load for me and it doesn’t have PAO either.

Mobil Delvac 1 is probably still the best HDEO sold at Walmart, but Mobil changed the formula when they rolled out the CK-4 version. It’s not the legendary product you remember. Ironically this is also when it started being sold at Walmart.

If you want a 5w40 HDEO that has higher HTHS for maximum protection I’d recommend checking out P66 Guardol XT. It used to have some PAO but they probably took it out. It’s about $30 a gallon from a distributor.

AMSOIL Signature Series, HPL & Ravenol NDT are also options if you want to pay the premium price.

Interesting that the claim above is 'no PAO'. A -54ºF pour point and an HTHS would indicate PAO or esters.

It’s not a claim. The SDS I found online from 7/16/2024 doesn’t list PAO like the old CJ-4 version did.

It also says the PP is -35C.

OP - I'm not as familiar with new diesels and not sure what your use is, but I wouldn't push these OCI that long. The sweet spot for my PS diesel is 5,000 miles, but I frequently change based on calendar which can be 2-3k miles. I pull less weight but can be about 25k pounds total GCW. Pulling 18k pounds, even on highway use only, leads me to believe that this is severe service. Maybe the oil monitor compensates, but I wouldn't push it to far, even with a great oil.

I'm using the Delvac Extreme in the F-350... Haven't tested it yet but it looks good on paper. Towing heavy for thousands of miles you may want to test to see how far you can go if you want to extend it.
