You are likely correct, with GM’s typical EV production rates of 12 vehicles per month, the waiting list will be on the order of 49,000 years. While silly, that’s exactly what’s been happening with everything but the previous Bolt, that used imported pouch cells
 
While it seems a silly comparison, the Model 3 is Exactly the same size as the inexpensive Nissan Sentra.

One is $50-60K, the other can be had for just over $20K. Both will do the exact same job and are in fact darn near equally comfortable.

But one of them can go 1200 miles in 17 hours, the other can't.
That's an interesting conclusion considering your profile picture, lol. I think you know...
 
Here is some more up to date information.
Call me crazy but I can’t help but think someday there will be a glut of expensive EVs on the market.
At least with GM many will be larger than a shoe box. Maybe sodium batteries will be a short term solution?

How are the EV versions of the Ford pickups selling? Rivian too?

$50,000 +++ cars for the general public?
Yet you can buy many of the same models that don’t need an extension cord and can be recharged on almost every corner in America (gasoline)
Something will give sooner or later.

I do it all the time. During the lockdowns, I was doing it every week. 1200 miles is 17 hours and my typical 1354 miles 19 hours flat. Might be doing it again on Tues, want to come along? We can take the 2018 F150, it will easily go 650-675 miles on one tank, with 50+ miles reserve.

Depart SWF at 3AM with a full tank, stop once in North Carolina for gas, and make it to Jupiter, FL in 19 hours. Period, end of story.

Yes I like to go fast, but keep in mind that Google maps shows it at 19 hours and 26 minutes.

What, that a Model 3 is exactly the same size as an inexpensive, compact car? Because it is. That was my point.

My Jag convertible is slower than a Model 3. But can easily go over 400 miles on a tank at 85MPH.

There is something to be said about EV vs gasoline in real world interstate driving, at least my world and I can see yours too.
Even my trips to Florida from Columbia SC area last year to Yulee. No one I know does 70 or 75 MPH, Easy 82 to 87 ... 4 hours, I was there, no time to stop for a "charge or to look for one. 3 hours looking at new homes sites, then top off the gas tank in minutes, 4 hours back home.

This whole notion of horsepower and speed is meaningless under 100 MPH... except for enthusiasts that like the high horsepower numbers of the EV. on the real road, I dont know, call me crazy but for fun I took my Big Chevy Traverse up to 97 MPH, drove smooth and silk but also dropped it down quickly to 85 ish... Dont want to go to jail. What I am saying is these small EVs lack a lot of comfort for trips like these, to the point that many can not understand the concept of long comfortable trips that you do not feel the need to stop.
It's for this reason and the price, I will always own a 3 row SUV that can tow 5k because the price will be half of an EV and less convenient.

Yet, I would own an EV for my wife's car that goes no place except local driving and sometimes does nothing but sit for days or a week in the driveway. I can also see value for commuting ect.

So I am not against EVs at all but they certainly are not a full replacement for gasoline at any time.

Other than some very remote areas, Ive not found an EV an issue on trips. I like to stop for 10-15min every few hours.

As to comfort, my GT is plenty comfy.

Im just trying to figure out where you have a 1200 mile stretch of all 70-75mph freeway with no holdups to actually make a couple small stops and average what works out to almost 80mph with those stops without legitimately speeding. Don't get me wrong, I love to cover a lot of ground when I'm traveling and if I'm by myself I wouldn't be pleased to do it in an EV since I tend to run tank to tank, but I've ate miles fast in many cars. '04 GTO, '06 Jaguar VDP, '17 5.0 F150, and my GTI. I don't like stupid stops when I'm the only person I have to worry about. I'm just questioning the legality of actually averaging 71mph over 17 hours with required stops.

I average around 75mph through Texas, but if you account for stops and factor the time for them and then amortize that into the mph, it's nowhere near 75.

Since I do a lot of long trips, stopping frequently, such as when the wife is along, makes the trip a huge waste of time. What I do in one day, takes 2 with her. Same goes for EV's. It adds enough time to a long "day" trip, that 2 full days are required. The Model S long range drive S FL to Burlington VT took 3 days. At that point, might as well take the bus or the local train that stops at every station.

Just ran the numbers, it comes in at just under $70,000. For Tax, Tag, Title, Dealer Fee and Doc stamps.

Seems like just yesterday we could purchase an SUV of the exact same size in the $30K range. Oh wait, it was yesterday.
 
In all seriousness, besides looking better, why buy this over the Model Y?

Yeah, the pricing is rough. It made sense a year ago when the Model Y was $65k+, but not anymore.

On the plus side, The Blazer EV will almost certainly beat a Model Y on range. Early LYRIQ tests show it’ll blow way past its EPA numbers.

That’s my problem with it, the pricing just doesn’t seem competitive.
