So, after much research, comparing, and well a company having a Cyber Monday 20% off sale I decided to switch High Performance Lubricants Euro 0W-20. After my "Free" oil changes from the dealer finished at 30,000 miles I knew it was time to switch to doing my own oil changes. Wasn't a big deal for me to do my own vehicle maintenance. Initially thought about just using Mobil 1 0W-20 508.00 compliant, and just doing the oil change every 5000 miles. Then I started to think about Amsoil, but the whole independent dealer and $20 customer fee was dumb. Finally, I started watching the motor oil Geek which led me to research High Performance Lubricants. Researching HPL put me down a rabbit whole in here and became more confused about oil then I ever had before. So, I decided to keep it simple and use the Engine Cleaner for 2,000 miles and do the oil change with the new HPL Euro 0W-20. I honestly feel that the engine is smoother, warms up quicker, and will continue to use the HPL Euro 0W-20. Just as a side note, I do not see crazy amounts of oil loss like other VW 4 Cylinder Turbos.

What is your planned interval with HPL? I'm guessing the Tiguan isn't a track machine so the 508.00 should be fine. Not about to start yet another debate, however, even if I went HPL, I would bump up to the xW-30 Euro. But thats me. Too many short trips and fuel dilution with mine for it to be practical/cost effective using HPL. Happy motoring.

I plan on running the HPL Euro 0W-20 for 10,000 miles. I have considered running the Euro 0W-30 or the HPL NO VII Euro 5W-20 or 5W-30. But the real question is what do you considered more important Viscosity Index or High Temperature High Shear rate? Maybe after a few more oil change I test out a different oil formulation.

In my tiny turbo fours? HTHS all day long. Throw in the typical VW fuel dilution and it's a no brainer. Again, thats just me. YMMV.
