Daughter is looking at 2023 Grand Cherokee L. It has everything, including the air ride suspension. Lowers as you go faster, or you can raise it for "off road", whatever. Anybody have any dealings or real use opinions on these systems???
Thanks In Advance!!!

General statement, anything pneumatic leaks over time. 100k on a set of air-lift shocks is all I’d expect. Otoh, probably rides super nice. If she doesn’t mind the extra complexity to maintain, she could enjoy it. But frankly, very few people need this option at all.

I love it on the Land Rovers, no issues, spend less on it than I do upgrading a normal suspension and nothing rides as nice. LR3 is still on factory rear bags at 240k miles. fronts lasted like 125k. Only issue is Jeep doesn't cross link side to side, so flex isn't great off road. Land Rover system is almost as good as solid axles.

I didn't really want the air suspension when I was shopping for Ram 1500's, but I do think it has a place and is great when its working. One more thing to take care of though. On a 2023 I'd expect it to be fine for a while. With the L I'd think it'd be pretty cool for you to load it down with 6-7 people and the suspension level itself for the load.

My parents have it on their 2024, it's a great feature for old people (kneel to get in) but they are only on year 2, so no real long term data yet.

My coworker has it on his 2013 Ram. This is the first year it's ever given him problems, and that's when it was frigid cold out. As soon as he's park it inside for a few hours it would unfreeze. He added some airline antifreeze and that seemed to have helped.

I'm not sure if Stellantis puts anything in the airbags but my Airlift system said to put in brake line antifreeze to prevent freezing from moisture collecting inside the lines & bags.

Probably hard to get moisture out once it’s deep inside …

I’ve had it on my Lexus LS and a 2021 Suburban and 2024 Yukon XL. So far, no issues and they all rode great. I never got to 100k on the Lexus or Burb and the Yukon has 37,000 at the moment so no real long-term data to report.

I have a 2022 GC L with air suspension. Honestly it’s been flawless, and the adjustable ride height is quite nice. I want to say ind. air shocks are $600/each so about 2x-3x a regular OEM strut.

It’s been a pretty good car for us. We recently had the aux battery go out for the auto start/stop, and the windshield washer pump go out. Both fairly inexpensive repairs, not bad in 4 years for a Jeep…

I have two 2024 Grand Cherokee Summit models. Air suspension has been flawless for us. At 60 mph the car lowers to "aero" height and back to normal at lower speeds. I use the suspension to raise the car a few inches for a comfortable fit when changing the oil.
