Excellent presentation; thanks for posting it. However, the engine cited in this presentation, which is present in all of the new Honda hybrids, is a newer long-stroke design and unrelated to the older, perfectly square (86 mm x 86 mm bore and stroke) K-series engine present in the 2023 HR-V and 2023 Civic.

Odd as Ive seen several vids saying this is the new 23 honda civic engine that will power all three models.

The new Civic Hybrid model debuting either next year or in 2024 will in fact have the touted high-efficiency engine of which you wrote. I think the original information from Honda gets mashed together as it's propelled over the inter-webs, and that's how the confusion originates.
