Hello

We have a 2022 Subaru Impreza that we got new and it now has 48k miles and the front brake pads need replacing.

Looking for recommendations on what types of pads to get and or avoid. The vehicle is a daily driver that sees a 50/50 split between freeway and local street driving.

I believe the stock OE pads are semi-metallic. Should I stay with semi-metallic or go with ceramic?

Also any brads to get or avoid?

I might get pads from Rock Auto

Thanks

I've been happy with the element 3 line
the latest set seems to squeak abit on the back.. which does not bother me.

Bosch quietcast ? Akebono proact?

I was very happy with the set of Bosch Quietcast pads and rotors for the back of my Forester. Excellent fit and finish, no issues or squeaking with them.

I was big on the Element3 line but was really unhappy with the last set I had used. Mirrors some of the others here that had problems.

Anyway, I would say Bosch is a good pick for a daily driver.

I’ve done a set of Akebono on a 2017 Impreza and they held up fantastic! It was on a manual Impreza that drove a ton through the mountains with heavy braking. Lasted a while, good braking, low dust.

Pads slap?

Subaru uses “ceramic” organic pads. Most of the newer stuff will use ATE calipers but not Euro-formula pads - Akebono or NBK still makes those pads.

Can’t go wrong with Akebono or OEM, I’m impressed with Bosch QuietCast(aka Duralast Elite or PerfectStop) for parts store pads.
